The various hues of a colorful state of Rajasthan have been brought to the Capital by Madhu Jain through her works,titled `Pathar ke Rangon Se'. This exhibition of paintings was inaugurated by Gayatri Devi of Jaipur on Friday at the Habiart Gallery.
Women in brilliant odhnis and duppattas, majestic palaces of the land of the Rajputs, the bright night sky-Madhu's canvas has the various aspects of the desert in all their glory and splendour.
"I have used the Jpanese technique of Nihonga here. It is painting which involves the use of a lot of rock pigments, shell powder,gold and silver. Therefore, it is completely natural as compared to the synthetic medium of oil paints," she explains. The artist also presented bonsai made by her.
Talking about her work Madhu says, " I am very close to nature. Both the life and colors of Rajasthan and the natural pigmnets have added life and a certain sparkle I feel, to these paintings".
Madhu who has held solo and group exhibitions all around the world, has dedicated her recent works to her birthplace-Rajasthan. And it was this Rajasthani connection which also brought Rajmata Gayatri Devi to the do.
Amongst the many guests caught appreciating
Madhu's work were Cinemaya's Aruna Vasudeva, artist Manav Gupta and
L.M. Singhvi with his wife Kamala, Albert Thibault,Geoffrey Marginson,
and Madhu's husband Bhushan.
